NEXANS : and Fincantieri Enters into Agrement for the Supply of Halogen Free Shipboard Cables

Steel and Iron Inventories Have Been Decreasing

Inventories of steel and iron ore have decreased since the beginning of September. The price of steel wire rod futures has increased by 10 percent, but the market is still far from a turning point. Latest figures show that up to Oct. 19, inventories of iron ore at 30 major ports are 90.01 million tons, down 0.76 million tons compared to last week, reaching the lowest since the beginning of this year and down by 2.21 million tons compared with the same period last year. South African Steel Carbon and Alloy imports Fell by Almost 30% in Aug

According to the customs and excise data released by the South African Iron and Steel Institute, South Africa's primary carbon and alloy steel product imports (excluding stainless steel and drawn wire) amounted to 50,817 tonnes in August 2012, decreasing by 29.5% MoM and down by 35.1% YoY. The country's primary carbon and alloy steel product imports during the first eight months of 2012 amounted to 551,773 tonnes, increasing by 7.5% YoY as compared to the 513,062 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding quarter of 2011.
